EXPOSED: President Goodluck Pardoned Alamieyeseigha To Avoid Niger Delta Militant Attack?

Political permutations preparatory to the 2015 general elections may have played a crucial role in the granting of presidential pardon to a former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, along with seven others.

It was learnt that President Goodluck Jonathan had recently come under pressure by ex-militants who have increasingly become critical of his style of leadership and realizing the implications on his 2015 ambition, the President sought a man whose voice is respected in the creeks – enter Alamieyeseigha.


Jonathan, not unaware of his former boss’ desire to stage a return to the political arena with the Senate his likely destination, decided to kill two birds with one stone; grant Alamieyeseigha pardon thus clearing the way for him to re-launch himself to political reckoning as well as repay the “political debts” he owed the former governor and in the process, get him to reach out to the ex-militants who believed that he (Jonathan) had not sufficiently addressed the problems in the Niger Delta.

In the words of a competent source, “Everything is political. Alamieyeseigha has a senatorial ambition; the ex-militants are angry with the President. The President wants the man to intervene and speak with the ex-militants as 2015 approaches.”
