Beyonce Responsible For Rihanna’s Success According To L.A. Reid

If it weren’t for Beyonce, Rihanna may never have had a career. That’s what L.A. Reid claimed in his upcoming memoir, Sing to Me: My Story of Making Music, Finding Magic, and Searching for Who’s Next. So basically, if Beyonce had never crossed paths with Rihanna in the first place, she wouldn’t have been around to cause so much drama in Beyonce’s marriage to Jay-Z.

Even though Jay-Z was instrumental in getting Rihanna signed to the Def Jam label, it was Beyonce convinced Reid to pay special attention to her. “At the label, we thought Teairra Mari would be the big star,” Reid said in his book. “We spent more time on her, did more work on her, paid more attention to her. Rihanna already had a hit with ‘Pon De Replay,’ but we still thought it was the other girl. A bell went off for me, however, when, after the showcase, Beyoncé came up to me. ‘That Rihanna girl,’ she said, ‘She’s a beast.’”

If Beyonce hadn’t mentioned how impressed she was with Rihanna’s voice, L.A. Reid may have invested more in Teairra Mari instead. Can you imagine if roles were reversed and Rihanna was on Love & Hip Hop, fighting for someone to recognize her instead? If only Beyonce had a Back To The Future car and she could go back and keep her mouth shut.

Rihanna is reported to have been the source of stress for Beyonce and Jay Z’s marriage for years. After the epic fight between Solange Knowles and her brother-in-law Jay Z in a Met Gala elevator, speculation was that Solange was angry at Jay Z for cheating with Beyonce. That’s good enough reason to beat on family at a black tie event right?

Ultimately, the Jay-Z PR machine came in and cleaned up what they could of the mess Solange made. Beyonce, Jay-Z and Solange Knowles jointly released the same statement about how the whole fight was nobody’s business and none of them will speak on it. We’re just left to sit here and look for clues as to what the fight may have been about and all signs point to Rihanna.
