So many historians claim Igbo people are descendants of the lost Jewish tribe of Israel who arrived Southeastern Nigeria through migration.
Igbo people are found dominantly in every part of the world, as the popular saying goes: “wherever you go in the world and you didn't find an Igbo man, leave that place as soon as possible”

According to one of the organizers of the Igbo culture in America, Basil Okafor, "The State of Virginia and US government recognize the Igbos as one of the early slaves who settled in Virginia."
