Buhari's Popularity is Dying Fast As APC Heads To Sudden Death!

President Muhammadu Buhari's failure to form a working cabinet for his government after 43 days he was sworn in as Nigeria's president and commander-in-chief of armed forces is already affecting his popularity negatively and also causing top leaders of his party, All Progressives Congress (APC) to loose trust in him.



Before and during the 2015 presidential election, the name- "Muhammadu Buhari" was a household name that rings bell in every corner of Nigeria and beyond, but now, the situation is different as youths who campaigned excitedly for Buhari in anticipation of a radical change, especially in areas of anti-corruption and job creation are beginning to loose hope in their once Messaiah Buhari.

If you visit any internet social media platform like facebook, twitter, Nigerian forums and blogs, you will notice a fast decline in Buhari's popularity as most of the youths who were so enthusiastic about him are beginning to feel regret for canvassing for votes for Buhari.
The increased Boko Haram terrorist attacks and suicide bombings in the northeastern Nigeria is not helping matters, as this has further made Nigerians to conclude that Buhari is not the Messaiah they believed him to be.

This is not a good trend for the president, and the only way he can curb this is to act fast and form his cabinet to help in rebuilding his fast-dying popularity.

Another factor contributing to Buhari's dying image is the lingering crises at the national assembly, which has divided the members of both the lower and upper house of assembly, and causing silent havoc within the APC top party officials who have lost confidence in the president, as one APC party chieftain was quoted saying, "We are beginning to believe that the suspense by Mr. President is deliberate. He is exploiting the delay to scare away people like us who helped him get to the top.

"Attempting to visit Mr. President when he was in the Defence House used to be a nightmare. With his movement into the State House, it has become almost impossible to see him. Tell me, how do you know what a man is thinking when you can't see him?" quizzed the party leader.

Also, sources close to the APC national leader and former governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu, also said the delayed appointments by President Buhari have conspired with the leadership crisis in the National Assembly to drive a wedge between their leader and the president.

"These days, you hardly see national leader (Tinubu) talking excitedly about the party or the government, apparently because he has been shut out and doesn't know what is happening.

"The story is the same with former governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi. The situation is not helped by the pressure from their political foot soldiers seeking financial rehabilitation after being in the opposition for several years," offered another source.

With all these lingering crises and cold war, Buhari's image will suffer more than we have witnessed, and this may affect his overall performance as president of Nigeria if not handled properly.
