Today 16th June 2014, Nigeria's Super Eagles will
shake it out with their Iranian counterparts in the World Cup group B opening
round. Both teams would ideally be seeking to avoid a defeat in order to have
realistic hopes if advancing to the knockout stages.
This will be the first ever meeting between both nations, and only the 2nd time the Nigerians will be squaring up against Asian opposition at a FIFA World Cup.
Four years ago in South Africa, the Super Eagles held Korea Republic to a 2-2 draw which wasn't good enough for the Nigerians to progress to the Round of 16.
