As part of an evening dedicated to Didier
Drogba on Chelsea TV this
evening (Friday), our former striker talks in detail about his days since he
has left the Bridge.
An extensive interview show Drogba - Life After Chelsea will
be broadcast on the channel for the first time at 6.45pm. That is immediately
followed by Best of Drogba, which takes a look back at some of the
greatest Chelsea goals scored by the Ivorian.
In Life After Chelsea, filmed in Istanbul before our
recent meeting with his current side Galatasaray, Drogba discusses the work his
foundation is doing in post-war Ivory Coast and how much of an inspiration the
former South African president Nelson Mandela was to him and his country.
In a clip of the interview that can be viewed above (subject
to registration), Drogba also explains why he and his family still call Cobham
home despite the fact since leaving Chelsea he has played in China and Turkey.
It is clear his children have had a lot to say on the matter.
'My kids go to school there and they are very happy, they
don't want to move,' he says.
'I told them "let's go to China" and they said
"no Dad, you go and we'll come and see you on our holidays". I said
you have to come with me to Istanbul as well and they said "Dad you only
signed for a year-and-a-half, let's see how it goes". My kids talking like
this!'
