Right now as you are reading this, Nigeria’s movie industry
also known as- Nollywood is having a very sad moment, as two of its popular actors
have kicked the bucket untimely to bow out of the industry. Actor Charles
Warren died on Thursday night in a hospital in Lagos, after a brief illness. He
was said to have complained of severe chest pains, and was rushed to the
hospital where he died. Charles Warren played sub-lead roles in numerous movies
such as, State of Emergency, Law 58 and many others. A popular comic actor,
Shehu Jibril, otherwise known as ‘Golobo’ from the Hausa sector of the
industry, popularly called Kannywood died also on Thursday morning in his
hometown, Talatan Mafara, Zamfara state.
The cause of Golobo’s death has not been ascertained, while
he was buried on Thursday.
The comedian was popular in the 80s in the Hausa entertainment industry. Golobo also acted in some Kannywood movies where he mostly played comic characters. He gained the consciousness of many Hausa entertainment industry buffs back then through his weekly television series, which ran on NTA.
