The wife of the Enugu State Governor, Clara Chime, has
finally decided to break the silence in an exclusive interview with Channels
Television, as she recounted her ordeal in the hands of her husband, Governor
Sullivan Chime.
Clara has been in the spotlight since this year, mostly
because of Governor Chime’s early ill health this year, and things fell more
apart when she reached out to some members of the human right community and legal
practitioner, in the person of Femi Falana, to rescue her from her soar
marriage to Governor Chime.
As expected, her open appeal generated lots of reaction from
Nigerians home and abroad and the civil society with several accusations, most
of which bothered on unlawful detention and violence against women, given the
physical and psychological suffering she was reported to be facing.
In the exclusive video above, while Clara recounted her
ordeal, she also flagged down claims that she had mental illness, which she put
this way:
“I suffered from depression and the treatment I got from my husband led to it.”
In her final words, she thanked Nigerians for coming to her
rescue, as she expressed her joy that she is “now liberated.” Hmmm…..na wa o.
