AN OPEN LETTER TO SUPER EAGLES’ COACH, STEPHEN KESHI

Dear coach, Stephen Keshi, I am writing you this open letter in tears and heartbreak after yesterday’s match, in which Nigeria’s Super Eagles team lost to their European side, Laroja’s of Spain in a shameful duel!

I don’t want to write long epistles sir, but I will kindly lay out my grudges, my anger and of which I also believe is the anger of 99% of Nigerians.

You are a good coach, no doubt, but sometimes, you need to be pushed to do what is right, I keep wondering why sir. I still remember with tears, how you allowed Yakubu to kill Super Eagles during the last world cup in South Africa, in which he severally refused to kick the ball into the open net, but you refused to substitute him or bench him in subsequent matches until Nigerians and government officials started screaming and shouting on you, that was when you realized your mistakes of always featuring that entertainer cum footballer, Yakubu.

Now, you have done same again!

Super Eagles played well in trying to dominate the game during our duel with Spain yesterday, 23rd June 2013, but they were unable to finish their game, they were unable to convert the numerous chances they had into a fruitful result, and that was why Spaniards spanked us like a baby…

Why am I writing you this open letter? Because Super Eagles need a proven striker if they must be called a team! If you want to still remain the loved coach Nigerians will always remember, you must let sentiments apart and act professionally! How could you go to an internationally acclaimed football competition as Confederations cup that involves champions from various continents, and you refused to go with strikers? How did you even plan to win the trophy? What was your plan? Did you hoped on- Akpala, Udeye, Babatunde and co to score goals for you? Maybe, when there is no defender and goalkeeper, maybe, I think, but you were wrong, so wrong!

I want to cite some scenarios for you. See, Mario Balotelli is a very stubborn player, the whole world know about it, but when it comes to business in terms of football, his coach always invite him irrespective of his arrogance, and you think those foreign coaches are fools? Nope, they aren’t, they only do because of his striking qualities and proven abilities in maneuvering through defenders even in difficult situations. Please Mr. Keshi, Super Eagles desperately need a striker, and since we can only make do with what we have at the moment, we need Osaze and Anichebe amongst Super Eagles first squad. We can’t just rely on Moses and Emenike, you should have enough strikers on your bench incase of injury or the like….let ego apart and please reconsider Osaze and Anichebe…no matter their evil deeds….forgiveness is meant for sinners!

During 2010 world cup in South Africa, Brazilian coach made a similar mistake, he refused to bring Ronaldinho into his Brazilian Samba squad out of beefing, and what happened to Brazil? They crashed out of the world cup in shame! Please don’t let this be the fate of Nigeria’s Super Eagles come 2014, if at all we will be able to qualify with the caliber of players you have right now.

Your defense also need more work, especially on the right hand side…if you observed in all our games during the confederations cup, we were scored from that angle- Diego Forlan’s goal came through that angle…same with Jordi Alba…

And going down the memory lane, Mr. Keshi, you were a very stubborn player, so why punishing Osaze to the detriment of Nigerian football success?
Keshi was a very stubborn player during his time.

Please do something about our forward, Mikel Obi did greatly in the last matches, and we strongly hope he will do more in matches to come…
