In a twinkle of an eye, Sir Jude Agbaso was recently
impeached as deputy governor of Imo State over N458 million bribery scandal.
But the ousted governor maintains that he was a victim of injustice and
wickedness.
We could recall that Sir Jude Agbaso is the younger brother
of Martins Agbaso, the former Imo governorship race APGA flag bearer who later
stepped down for Rochas Okorocha in a gentleman’s agreement in which it was
agreed that Rochas would run as the APGA flag bearer in order to dispute the
then almighty governor Ikedi Ohakim, who could only be won by a man of the
people like Okorocha. In the said agreement, Okorocha was to govern for 4
years, and then return the power to Martins Agbaso during 2015 that will be
Owerri senatorial zone’s turn to take the leadership of Imo state. In the same
agreement, Martin Agbaso was asked to appoint a deputy governor to run
alongside Okorocha, and he appointed his younger brother, Sir Jude Agbaso who
happens to be a JJC in politics.
Now, things have finally fallen apart as Jude Agbaso had
been impeached in a controversial impeachment. Read complete details after the
page cut…
According to Sir Jude Agbaso, governor Rochas Okorocha
staged his impeachment by roping him with a contract bribe scandal which he
knew nothing about.
He further maintained that Governor Okorocha himself awarded
the contract to the contractor and also paid for it himself, so how could he
have came in? He also made it clear that he has nothing to do with the alleged
construction company that he was accused of, and even asked the Imo State House
of Assembly to investigate properly before going on with an impeachment move,
but the house paid a deaf ear because everything had been staged to occur at
the set time.
He stated and I quote- “the panel did great disservice to
Imo people. It only pre-occupied itself with my impeachment. Its chairman and
members did not use their onerous call to serve in the panel to let the people
know the whole truth of what happened to Imo people’s money. The panel was only
set to play a particular script and achieve the selfish, political and
malicious desires of an individual or set of individuals. If the panel were really
an investigative body that wanted to be unbiased, I think that the time they
invited me was premature.”
From all indications, this is a staged impeachment to ensure
that Agbaso and family isn’t in power come 2015 when Rochas will either be
running for a second tenure or handing over to his choice candidate. What a
nation called NIGERIA!
