For some time now, I had been reading many Nigerian
celebrities condemn and even try to insult bloggers instead of thanking them
and showing gratitude to them for promoting them even when unnecessary.
For instance, the wedding between 2Face Idibia and Annie
Macaulay isn’t supposed to be a big deal or talk of the town like it turned out
to be if not for the Nigerian bloggers and news writers that over-hyped it
beyond necessary. Why did I said so? 2Face had been married and remarried with
kids before now, so what he only did was a kind of fund-raising and business
promotion with Annie Macaulay, because we can’t call a wedding between a father
of more than two grown up kids and a mother of a grown child an exemplary
wedding, except the world has changed in the twinkle of an eye.
70 to 90% of Nigerians don’t have a satellite television
like DSTV, etc to have been able to watch every event that took place in that
wedding, if at all it was streamed live from day one to end, but I can boldly
tell you that close to 80% of Nigerian youths which make up the majority of
Nigerian population have access to mobile phones that have internet facility
that enables them to browse and read news from blogs and news sites where
hourly updates on 2Face and Annie Idibia’s wedding ceremonies were made.
Today, every outfit and success news of Nigerian celebrities
that used to be no news are now being heard world over, courtesy of numerous
Nigerian bloggers and gossip websites, which the celebrities ought to thank for
helping to promote them and their businesses.
Psquare acquires a new house, bloggers promotes it beyond
measure, and thereby making more and more people to admire Psquare crew.
Jim Iyke travels to London, bloggers makes it a big news,
and thereby promoting Jim Iyke and helping to fetch him more celebrity
endorsements and more money of course.
Tiwa Savage lodges in a costly hotel, bloggers turns it into
a juicy news that promotes Tiwa Savage.
Wizkid buys new house, bloggers hype it and make it look
like Wizkid is the richest man on earth, and this also promotes him and his
music more and hence, fetches him more money and fame.
How many will I say, and how many will I live behind? In
all, Nigerian bloggers deserve some embrace from the numerous Nigerian
entertainment celebrities, and in fact, they ought to be mentioning bloggers in
their songs and movies as a way of saying- THANK YOU GUYS FOR PROMOTING OUR
BUSINESSES!
Hi Ngozi,
ReplyDeleteYou have a nice blog and I respect your sayitlikeyoumeanit approach. It might initially get you a lota haters, but definitely more fans in the long run.
Yes, TELL THEM. Bloggers deserve to be more appreciated. We help them amplify all they do, yet, we are the bad guys. They also forget that just like most of them, we are subjected daily to criticisms from vilifying readers, and at time sadists. Yet we don't go about whining and crying to everyone... Lol
Anyway, keep up the good work, it can only get better.
pls get your facts right before publishing. Tuface has never been married not to talk of being remarried.
