It is so shameful that 1500 Nigerian Teachers sat for an exam meant for elementary four pupils, and 1300 of them failed woefully, leaving one to wonder- what then will they teach the innocent students?
This goes a long way to show how Nigeria's educational system is falling day after day. People no longer take teaching as a profession or career, instead, those who couldn't secure job elsewhere seem to be the ones dominating the Nigerian teaching sector.
How do we expect someone who studied Physics in the higher institution to be teaching students Literature in English, while those that studied History handle Mathematics? This is the condition right now in Nigeria and government needs to act fast before things go beyond control, if at all it hasn't.
Anyway, I learnt the Minister for State Education has made announcement to employ 2000 quality teachers to handle key-subjects like- Mathematics, English Language, Physics, etc, beginning with Federal Government Secondary Schools.
That would be a welcome development if at all they will enforce it.
