Professor Chinua Achebe, Father of African Literature Is DEAD!

The Iroko has finally fallen, and THINGS HAS REALLY FALLEN APART! Professor Chinualumogu Achebe, the writer of the popular contemporary African novel- Things Fall Apart passed on last night in a hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, United States after a suspected acute pneumonia illness.

Professor Achebe, is one of the best fiction writers in recent memory, and he died in his USA base, according to information just reaching Ngozikanwiro Blog.

He died at the ripe age of 82, having been born on November 16, 1930, and had been in hospital in recent days, battling with mild illness related to cold.

Some of his acclaimed literary works include- Things Fall Apartwhich is on the list of 100 highest sold novels in the world with over 11 million copies sold worldwide in different Language translations. The Man of The Peoplea fiction work by Professor Achebe, believed to be the igniter of the first bloody Nigerian military coup in 1966. No Longer At Ease, Girls At War, Chike and The River (an interesting children's fiction), etc.


Just last year, he published a war memoir of the Nigerian civil war, titled- There Was A Country, which generated a lot of controversies and criticisms.

Pa Professor Achebe made a lot of impact in the African literature, and his impact can never be forgotten as long as African literature is concerned.

Before he death, he was the David and Mariana Fisher Professor of Literature at Brown University, United States and one of the world's most celebrated writers.

May his gentle soul rest in the bosom of the Lord, Amen! Adieu Pa Achebe, we love you so much!
