Is NOLLYWOOD Actor, Emeka Ike Gay? Find Out

Renowned Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike has stated that while he does not hate gays (which means he may be a gay, who knows?), the union between people of the same sexual orientation should not be encouraged.

The former president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), speaking at the Vchannel’s Celebrity Night Out at Troy Lounge in Lagos, Nigeria warned that the country should not follow the example of the United Kingdom which on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 passed legislation to legalized same-sex marriage.

The issue of gay rights and gay marriage across Africa has become a very dicey one.

While a few countries in Africa – like South Africa – have legalized gay marriage, most countries have rather enacted stringent anti-gay laws. The practice, according to some African politicians and religious leaders, is a sin against God and an affront to their tradition.

According to Emeka Ike, “Knowing our penchant for ‘copying’ others I want to plead with Nigerians not to encourage same sex marriage. I don’t hate gays but I don’t support gay marriage either. God does not want it, our culture forbids it.”

“We should not encourage what is not right,” he pleaded.

Emeka Ike, who is on hiatus from acting, explained that the issue is about defending whatever is left of the country’s culture.

“Nigeria should not go the way of UK, we are people of culture. I want our legislators to stick to their guns and not legalize what will be eroding our culture and make us Godless people,” he said.

  1. yeah. i think he is right but the thing is we cant rule out the fact that people who feel very strong emotions for the same sex exist among us..i think the laws should be a little bit flexible..to reduce mental illness in the future and so many thing. just saying
