ANGELINA JOLIE tells entertainment news that she didn’t actually set out to ever become a director before she directed “In The Land of Blood and Honey.”
Amid her flying in and out of the country for trips to devastated areas with her husband, Brad Pitt, and taking care of their many children, Angelina Jolie made her directorial debut with her allegedly plagiarized 2011 movie, “In the Land of Blood and Honey.” And in the coming months, the engaged star will be taking on her second project, “Unbroken,” about a World War II survivor.
But she insists, her change from stunning A-list actress to director-slash-writer was totally unplanned.
Angie told Total Film:
“I didn’t set out to ever become a director or write a script. I was never intending to make a film. I often give myself homework on different things; it’s good exercise to get your mind working. So I was very frustrated by the lack of intervention.”
She also opened up about how she originally came about with the plot of her first movie by likening what she saw in real life to what we saw in the movie:
“I’ve been travelling for over 10 years to these conflict and post-conflict zones, and thinking about what happens to people when they live inside these situations, and how their humanity is just stripped apart.”
She continued:
“I spent so much of the time bringing people back – like they’re in the refugee camp and returning them to the place where they faced war. So I wanted to have a meditation on what this is and how people who are neighbors can turn against each other.”
But now that all of that’s done, we can’t wait for “Unbroken” where she’ll be guided with a book so she can finally concentrate on her directing!
