The advertising world has embraced viral videos in 2012 bringing creativity, humour and sometimes sheer star-power. YouTube has compiled its top twenty online offerings from this year.
The crown this year goes to Nike's love letter to the beautiful game, My Time is Now, which features a roll-call of the world's best footballers.
Old Spice, once associated with Henry Cooper and fathers of the 1970s, has managed to secure three places on the list, while car manufacturers Chrysler and Volkswagen capitalised on their Superbowl campaigns. Here's the top ten:
2. Pepsi MAX & Kyrie Irving Present: "Uncle Drew". This Pepsi ad stars the Cleveland Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving disguised as an "old-school" ballplayer.
3. The Bark Side (Volkswagen). This canine success for the German car maker sees our four legged friends barking to the Darth Vadar theme tune.

4. The Next Big Thing is Already Here (Samsung). A win for Samsung in the technology battle. This ad was watched 17 million times.
5. Matthew's Day Off (Honda). Matthew Broderick has another day off in this popular homage to Ferris Beuller.
6. The Dog Strikes Back (Volkswagen). Pets and Darth Vadar. Why change a winning combination?
7. GoPro HERO3: Black Edition (GoPro). No surprises that video of breathtaking helmet camera stunts is popular. This video was seen an astounding 12.8 million time
8. Halftime in America (Chrysler). This ad, starring Clint Eastwood was a much-buzzed about halftime ad during the Super Bowl.
9. Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Rafael Nadal (Nike). Two super-atheltes do battle to the delight of 10 million viewers.
10. Vampire Party (Audi). "Vampire Party" sneaks into the top ten in 2012 with 7.8 million views.
