NANS convention: LASU student kidnapped

A Lagos State University student, Mr. Dayo Oseneye, has been allegedly kidnapped in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, ahead of the National Association of Nigerian Students’ elections.

A postgraduate student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Paul Abdulrasak, said Oseneye had been missing since Saturday night.

He stated that all efforts to reach him on the phone proved abortive as his telephone line was switched off.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Etim Dickson, said the police had yet to be informed of the kidnap.

Dickson said despite that, he alerted police formations in the state to intimate them about the development immediately he heard the rumour.

He said, “I have not received any report, but after I heard the rumour, I called the OC Anti-kidnapping Unit, who also said he had not received such report.”

Dickson, however, stated that the police would do everything within their power to track down the kidnappers if indeed the student had been kidnapped.
