Immediate past petroleum minister, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke during whose tenure several allegations of corrupt practices in the industry have been flying around is literally running from pillar to post, apparently in search of reprieve.

The highly influential minister in former president Goodluck Jonathan’s government is said to have stepped up efforts, playing out to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), buzzing the phones line of the agency’s Chairman, Ibrahim Lamorde.

Saturday Sun learnt that the calls have neither been taken nor acknowledged.

Exasperated, the Bayelsa born former senior executive of Shell Petroleum Development Company Limited reported Lamorde to the former National Security Adviser (NSA), General Aliyu Gusau (retd), complaining that the EFCC helmsman had been ignoring her calls.

It was further gathered that Gusau’s intervention earned little relief for her as Lamorde explained to the ex-NSA that Diezani had for over two and half years snubbed him.

The anti-corruption czar, according to Sunday Sun’s source told the General he would not understand her spirited efforts to reach out to him now that she was no longer in power, adding for good effect that she poured more cold water on him with a usual shrill banter. “my brother, my brother” anytime they meet at public events.

The first son of Nigeria’s First President, Late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chukwuma Bamidele, is dead.

He died on Sunday at the age of 75.

A family source, who claimed anonymity, said on Monday that the deceased had been battling with respiratory ailment for years now.

The source said Bamidele, as he was called by friends and associates, died at Borromeo Hospital in the commercial city of Onitsha.

Before his death, he was addressed in Onitsha as the Owelle, replacing his late father in 1996.

New Law: No More Employment Of Children Under 12years As Househelps In Nigeria!

In a long overdue move, the Fed­eral Government has prohibited the employment of children below the age of 12 as domestic helps in a new Act signed by President Goodluck Jonathan. Christened the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act 2015, the new law recommends a prison term of two years and a possible fine for violators. The law also prohibits the exploitation of domestic helps who are under 18 years.

In popular culture, certain countries are stereotypically associated with certain products — beer in Germany, carpets in Turkey, electronics in Japan.

But those things aren't what people are really searching for.

Earlier this month, the cost-estimating website Fixr.com put together a map of the world with the most-Googled for object in each country, using the autocomplete formula of "How much does * cost in [x country]."
